'what's going on...'
23 March 2012
.
well well folks, its gone from snow to sun and flowers during my absenteeism from the blog world. It is now spring for sure, things are sprouting, and I had a sunbathe in the park this lunchtime, wowsers.
Last weekend, we went out in our van for the first time since having it serviced at the garage, and managed to breakdown actually at a petrol pump at the motorway garage, ergh. But, after a few goes it decided to start, and off we went...to Winkworth Arboretum to meet up with my eldest brother Blaise {who was visiting my other brother on his motorbike}
it was a bit dull to be honest...I was expecting some blossom or at least some bud action, but no, only shades of brown and grey.
there was quite a nice boat house looking over the lake though.
Blaise is a boat builder, specialising in classic wooded boats, but I don't think he made much of this ropey old gondola.
afterwards we had light refreshments in our van and had a bit of a chinwag.
after that we went off to visit my other brother who lives somewhere in Hampshire, on a farm...he's not a farmer though...he works for posh car company.
So our home hunting has gone a bit pear shaped, we have found nothing to either buy or rent.
Its very frustrating, all we want is somewhere with a large garden, at least two bedrooms, period building, original sash windows, wood floorboards, quiet area, with good cafes, and a cat flap. I mean we are quite flexible really ; )
ANYhow, we went off in search of somewhere to live in the countryside, we looked at one in Rye and one in a small village north of Brighton. But neither came to anything, oh pants!
But we popped into Brighton for something to eat and had a wander around.
Coming from an Island, I've never really understood the whole attraction of a city by the sea, its kind of a contradiction to me, 'cause I want to get away from the city when I go to the seaside.
However there was a beautiful sunset and I did love the Victorian Resort architecture, and it was much cleaner than I thought too.
So that's all we've been up to of late. I really cant wait till we find a place to live...only one month left before we are officially homeless {well we could live in our van I suppose}.
We are off to the Isle of Wight again this weekend, to soak up some of this glorious weather we've been getting here in Blighty. I'll report back next week.
bye for now!
p.s. I've no idea what that yellow dot is by the way, hope it wasn't a sniper.
Island break
14 March 2012
Hey Folks! its been awhile...apologies. I went to the Isle of Wight with husubono on the weekend, and it was glorious weather and I am still in shock, as it is only March!
It was my burfday on saturday and its Nao's birthday today, so lots going on.
We went to the local beach as usual and it is so quite out of holiday season, perfect.
we slept on the beach and had tea's in between.
and a lovely walk through the Botanical Gardens as usual.
So we are still busy sorting out house things, deciding whether to rent or buy, in London or somewhere else...blimey! I guess we will end up just moving a few yards down the street.
Once we have moved I can concentrate on my blog too, because one thing I hate is being in Limbo Land, its very distracting indeed.
p.s. my cherry tree has got huge buds on it...so therefore it will be a good summer!
flowers + a tv interview!
26 February 2012
.
Yes indeed! I introduced a bit of summer to winter, an I think they are getting on. There are flowers everywhere in our workshop, mostly on top of the huge stone well in the middle. Some of these are the same as the ones from my wedding in fact. I love the clematis the best.
In other news, Nao has been interview for a Japanese TV program about the tsunami. If you've been reading my blog long enough, you'll know what happened to Nao's hometown in Miyagi Provence in the Tsunami of last year. To cut a long story short, because Nao uses twitter {a lot!} the mayor of Tokyo happened to respond to his twitter stating that his mum {along with a number of children} were stranded on top of the roof of the town hall. Amazingly the mayor dispatched a rescue helicopter in the morning to rescue them from the stricken town which was now engulfed by fire from the fuel tanks that had leaked from the ships. Its quite a modern wonder, how technology had made it possible to communicate to the other side of the world in emergency situations. We discovered that the rescue had happened when we google image searched for rescue in Kesennuma, and there was the helicopter plucking people to safety, what a relief!!
The TV reporters also talked to Nao about the £11000 we managed to raise via our jewellery company RUST. We made little silver necklaces stamped with the sakura {cherry blossom} symbol and 100% of the sale price and 30% of all Japanese online sales went to help rebuild the school for Autistic children that was swept away by the sea. Nao's Mum is the principle of the school, and the rebuild has already begun, with the brilliant help of Unicef.
So there you go, a funny old day it was yesterday! they even interviewed me, which was very embarrassing and I'm sure they wont use it ; ) Nao's mum has already been interviewed for the same documentary over in Kesennuma...I hope I can show you it when it has been broad casted next month I think.
Wo, I crammed alot it to this post, i hope it made sense?? Today the sun is shining, and we are going out to explore a hidden garden just down the road from us that we never knew about, cool!
Thanks for bearing with my blogging absence, we are so busy at work {which is good} and never get the chance to download my photos : ( xxx

shiny bits
4 February 2012
.
Today Nao added a few shiny bits to our Fiat, like a new chrome number plate lamp {previously it was black} and a luggage rack, which can just about take a suitcase.
My Welsh blanket has come in handy in this cold weather as the Fiat's heating is non-existent.
We discovered an amazing shop for all parts for Fiat 500s, its called Ricambio the chap there was so helpful and fitted our swish new wing mirrors and gave us lots of advice. I like this about classic cars, people are always so helpful and friendly.
Nao fitting a new seal on the window.
Our headlights like to blink a lot, we have to keep an eye on the reflection on the car ahead.
When I was a nipper, we had two of these cars in the family, my brother and my mum. When my mum used to pick me up from school in hers, I was so excited, but I got so pissed off with other kids that called it a bubble car. I'd stamp my feet saying..."Its not a bloody bubble car, its got four wheels, a bubble car is completely different!"
I always dreamt of driving it when I got older, but something expensive went wrong with it and it was eventually sold. I lost interest in cars at that point. I might learn to drive this one...but maybe not in London, just around country lanes!
This week we have had a great time going to work in it and pottering down to the cafe and pub...you just can't help that big ol'grin spreading across your face as soon as the engine starts. Its so funny looking at the expressions of passers by too and other drivers...in fact I'm concerned that we may cause a traffic accident.
By the way, we went over Tower Bridge on a sunny day with the sunroof down...it was AMAZING!
p.s. Its snowing here in London! but don't worry, Lewes and {yet to confirm its name} Fiat are all tucked up under their covers.
