one sunny weekend

9 March 2014

This weekend I had an unusual sensation on my cheeks...yes, it was the sun.
We were treated to a couple of glorious days, and we were without coats and jumpers and we even got our toes out in the air.
We went for a walk...to Shalfleet creek...

Where our kiddo tested out her new backpack/reins. It's nice not to have to bend down all the time and constantly grabbing her hand (which usually wriggles free).

It was lovely and we even saw a Kayaking dog.

At home, our little'un planted her first ever crop of peas. I can't wait for her delight when she opens her first ever pea pod (if the rabbits don't get there first).

She got a bit carried away with the chalk pen

I bought some nice plants for our garden, I found this Rose was appropriate...

and some more peas planted in a grow bag.

On Sunday, we loaded up our cart with some fodder and a bottle of wine and ventured down the lane from our house on the lookout for suitable picnic spot...

after some refreshments (and a bottle of wine ; ) we all drifted off into a rather pleasant snooze in the afternoon sun with the sound of geese and ducks in the background.

cuddling a banana (?!)

tiny dried up crab.

duck prints.

nice cuppa tea whilst the little one snoozed on for an hour or two, bliss!
followed by some early evening explorings in the marsh

and then back in the cart to go home (yes we did look like refugees!).

It's our birthdays next week, but we really couldn't of had a better weekend. We are all on standby for summer now!

  2. Oh, you live on an island as well?!?!? No wonder I'm so smitten with your blog. I went to Isle Of Wight for summer school like twenty(!) years ago and have such fond memories of it. It's a totally different kind of island from the one I live on now, yet all islands have this inexplicable quality, a likeness…

Gorgeous photos and your bebe's a cutie.

What a lovely weekend! I'm in Australia and we're doing the same kinds of things down here but longing for some cooler days. My body and mind are all ready for the transition into Autumn, however Mother Nature seems to have decided otherwise.

    Love your blog, Linda. :)

  7. Wasn't the weather amazing just a bit of sun and everything is so much better I also wanted to thank you for my lovely sunday we went to Walthamstow village and the William Morris museum which was a revelation I only live 4 stops away on the tube and i'd never ventured there before I even got to eat an ice cream in the park so thanks for the recommendation my little family had a great time. Your weekend looks idyllic.

  10. I love the kid-o-barrow...the sun was very strong in London too although your views were better than ours, how gorgeously pastoral.

We had a beautiful sunny warm weekend in Netherlands as well..and it will continue during this week..hopefully..;)
It's so nice to be/live outside after a long period of ghastly weather (although it was much worse in the U.K) and feel the sun and wake up with the birds singing their hearts out...

  22. You never cease to amaze me with your adventures. I spent the day in the sun too, recouperating on the lounger in my sister's garden in Suffolk whilst she cleaned out her potting shed. Didn't have a picnic though. But, we had a lovely roast at my nece's house. Lovely pictures, truly inspirational. xxx to your all

  23. Delightful photo's as always. How unusual to see reins (and very sensible might I add) you hardly ever see them these days and I can't understand why? Maybe cos most toddlers are either in the pushchair or car ?
