We found this tricycle {technically its a quad bike I think} in the market a while ago, and even though its not suitable for a baby, we bought it anyways. The mister got to work respraying it and giving it thorough make-over...
he sanded and waxed the seat, and put wee bell on it, that will surely drive us nuts in about 2 years time.
he also transformed this grubby old tool box, into...
....an art box, with crayons, pencils, paints and a sketch pad. Quite handy for camping trips to come in the future right? We'll have to wait a while before the bub can use these obviously, but nothing wrong with preparations eh!
mean while...summer is over here in Blighty and the heating has been on twice : (
Cool! I like it to find such things and your mister have cone this very well! ;) Have fun with it, about a little time! Time flies... With love, Herma
ReplyDeleteLove the tool box conversion... what a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteseriously good job on the wheels

ReplyDeletewow you and your hubby do a great job of giving new life to old and used things and making them look like something sold at anthropology for hundreds of dollars. Your baby is very lucky he/she will be born to such crafty, creative, nature-loving parents.

Can't beat a bit of upcycling and forward planning.Such wonderful transformations...it is so true that when your little one finally shows up you will be amazed as how time flies. how it takes ages to get anywhere and how very little is achieved at least in the first few months but methink said baby is going to awash with creative genes and probably jeans!! Take care rest up

Thats just like my old bike, my dad painted it red with my name in blue! Ah memories! Exciting times too!!!!
ReplyDeleteMagic.
ReplyDeleteArtemis I have a confession to make: Usually I await your posts (VERY) eagerly and then when I read them I'm just kinda ... well.. jealous slash, envious slash sentimental. So I find myself staring and sighing and showing your photos to my Hubby but I hardly comment cos I think "well she has TONS of followers and many comments and probably little time to read them all and I'm just a small new blogger with few followers and I probably have nothing new to say that all the other admirers have't already said" (I'm not kidding this is how I think!!) Well stuff that. Today I'm going to do a bit of gushing and say that you are actually the reason I started a blog, your style is... well... the coolest. You have such a friendly and accessible way of writing - which I love. Your creative ideas and skills are painfully awesome and quite frankly your little munchkin is one luck little sausage!! Thank you! You. Rock. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky little baby. Well done for getting on with the renovations immediately and not just putting them in the shed and forgetting all about them until it is too late - like me! I had hoped to avoid primary coloured plastic toys but they soon began to invade the home. Soft toys too. And don't get me started on party bags!
ReplyDeleteHi,I have just come across you, found you mentioned on the Aug Home and Antiques magazine , did you know you were in there? I am over in New Zealand, and have just spent the last 1/2 hr reading over your writings which are so good. Your photos are great and I will continue to follow you. I spent 6 yrs in the UK 20 yrs ago travelling/working and reading about your weekends away in the van takes me back to that time....so much fun and such great countryside. Thanks, Amanda.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have such an eye for making something beautiful out of something a little bedraggled and really giving it a new lease of life. Following.Rx

ReplyDeleteMy Word, your child is going to be simply the luckiest little bairn in Britain. And you are right to make as much as possible now because, I hate to say it but your time will significantly diminish. Having said that you seem to do all this in your sleep! Amazed, Impressed and Green with Envy...
ReplyDeleteAwww, gorgeous bike. What a lucky little kid!

ReplyDeleteWow! I love the transformation of the bike!!! Makes me inspired to transform some of my projects!

Truly you are very skilled. I had a friend ones who made renovations for my establishment who also made renovations for my children's bikes. He is also into building maintenance services in melbourne and I realized you must really be skilled to be able to do all that.
ReplyDeleteYour blog always inspires me. This Post looks very interesting ! I hope it was as lovely as it looked :) Happy New Year 2013 !!!
