St. Ives - Cornwall
25 July 2014
A glorious day spent in St. Ives. We ate pasties on the beach, visited Seal Island to see the seals having a nap and found a lovely shop and cafe.
where they serve the most delicious carrot cake...
and tea grown right here in Blighty!
and we bought a car for the nipper. Ooops.
and we made some VW friends on the pier.
Padstow - Cornwall
A short afternoon spent in Padstow, where we paid for a campsite the decided to stay somewhere else instead.
a beautiful harbour, and a very nice place to sit and eat ice cream.
Next...St. Ives...
St. Agnes - Cornwall
We spent a wonderful week in Cornwall. It was funny to be back down to the very tip of Cornwall, where I used to live a long time ago. How things have changed since I was last there in my early twenties. A lot, of course, is still exactly the same, like the rocky cliffs, wet new sand and unpredictable weather.
We camped in our van for the whole trip, we stayed at many different campsites along the way, sometimes never knowing where we'd end up that night. It was exciting and exhilarating, and bloody knackering.
The most important thing nowadays, is not enjoying a holiday ourselves, but more to watch our kiddo enjoying herself...this gives me more pleasure than anything. Those massive caves and vast vast beaches, she has all the freedom she could need and her tiny legs just run and run!
I'm already missing it there.
(more Cornish adventures to come...)
dartmoor
If you really want to feel lost in a dream world, then I think Dartmoor is the place to go. It is like a wonderland, a lush and fertile place, where things grow out of stone and animals are free to roam.
You are never far from the delicate sound of running water over stones, or a bleating lamb.
...and it is vast.
