smock dress

16 October 2014

Last night I made this simple smock dress from the fabric from Dashwood Studio. This pattern is from their September Blue collection and it is a very light and soft lawn cotton.

It has side pockets and cut out/tie shoulders...

I got the idea for the shape from a 1970s dress that I have. I did actually intend for it to be longer, but as I don't usually make adult clothes, I didn't have quite enough fabric. It's a bit summery but will be nice over the top of my thermals this autumn ; )

  1. Hi Artemis, thanks for sharing the beauty of Dashwood Studios' fabric - after seeing your last post on clothes you made for Pehr using the September Blue line, I ordered some that I can't wait to turn into a quilt!

  3. Love the yellow trim, you pull of the 70's look quite well. And did you get a haircut?

  7. Hiya! I wondered if you could double check that a couple of messages I sent via your Rust shop aren't in your Spam folder? Thanks so much. Victoria x

  8. I've been lusting over smocks for some time now, and toying with the idea of just creating my own, is it a fairly easy pattern to make? Anything that has pockets is a winner for me too!
