February shop window
5 February 2020
I've abandoned the idea of a Valentine's day shop window as it is over so quickly, so I thought I'd do something sort of romantic but which can stay up for longer. I bought these flowers last week in London and they made it down to the island in one piece. I love the colours, a bit tropical for this dreary British winter.
I couldn't decide which pictures I liked the best, so I put all of them!
This is my car doing a bit of work for the business.

RU.ST winter 2019
15 November 2019
It is starting to feel very wintery here in the UK now, and it's time to focus on all things xmas!
I made these hares a few weeks ago and they finally went up in the window this week. They are made out of foam board and painted with poster paints and acrylics. I love hares, they are mad and mysterious looking creatures. We see them a lot here on the Isle of Wight, but they are quick and shy so it is always exciting to catch a glimpse of them.

I will update our website with some new items next week, but for now I will leave you with our hare necklace in solid 9ct gold, available online shortly!
RU.ST: autumn 2019
11 September 2019
I love these fluffy grass seed heads, I found them last year and have been meaning to do something with them. I used a big wire hoop, and there are some wheat heads and gypsophila in there too.
I'm trying to keep a uniformity between the look of our showroom and the photos on our website (both by me) however the frame of the close up photos is about 5cm wide and our window is about 5ft wide. It's a bit tricky but I think these dried plants work well for both and can handle the full direct sunlight in the shop.
Next will be xmas again, how can it be that quick??
Spring 2019 shop window
19 March 2019
Ah it's so lovely to come out of the gloomy winter period right?
I don't get that much time to work on the shop, or even be in it for any amount of time these days. Luckily we have a really lovely lady working for us behind the counter...she is the best find ever, thanks Jan!
When I do get to visit the shop it's normally just to pick up and drop of things to-ing and fro-ing to London with me. I usually take photos of jewellery on Mondays before going to London the next day but it's not easy to do with my toddler son in tow as I'm a single mum now for four days of the week, but he is very good and he knows the drill.
So it was a bit overdue to refresh the shop for the new season...I bought these dried flowers from my favourite shop in London Botanique, I'm a big fan of Alice and her beautiful style, she has a few shops around London now but her Exmouth Market shop is local to me in Hatton Garden studio, and in a lovely street with nice cafes.
...anyway, I had this idea and after a bit of sewing with needle and thread, I did actually manage to hang up all the flowers in the window.
I hope to paint the outside of the shop soon too, to match the new colour and logo packaging that we will have coming soon (massive delay on this!)...I'm looking forward to it as I think it will look great and a bit more in keeping with our brand.
By the way, if you are planning to visit us on the Isle of Wight and are looking for things to do this summer, you can check out my blog posts about the Island HERE
...and, I will hopefully compile a list of nice places to stay and eat, as well as my favourite beaches on the Island, before the summer...don't hold me to it though I have to try them all first.
