an anniversary and other stories

On Wednesday 14th August, it was our third wedding anniversary. So much has happened since we got  wedded. We grew our business, we saved and saved, then we bought three cars (??!!) then we moved rental flat and we had a baby. Somehow, our anniversary now feels like a day for all of us to celebrate (including our cat Plimsoll) not just Nao and I.
We decided to have a little break on the Isle of Wight, to see the carnival and visit VDub Island, which is a little festival for, you guessed it, ...VWs!
Anyways, the Ventnor carnival went a bit like this...

our littley wore her 'Pehrosaurus' hat. Which she didn't look very happy about!

dancing to 'La Bamba', I wish I could have joined in on this one!

the bonkers band...

...randomly having a break in the middle of the road.

after the carnival, there was some fireworks, which for a small town like Ventnor, are actually pretty good usually. We let the littl'un stay up to watch them on my mum's balcony.
And, after a few false starts, there was a lot of...

oooOOOOhs....and...

....aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhs

The last night we decided to stay and camp at the VDub Island. It was a very nice chilled out place, with a few nutty enthusiast and a lot of people just enjoying the camping aspect.

quite a few of these lovelies dotted around...

we saw some cute critters...

and had a dinner on the top deck of this gorgeous vintage bus.

it was the best EVER jacket potato with beans and cheese and a cuppa tea.

the back seat...

after stuffing ourselves, we rummaged through our pockets for a few coins left to afford us a nice half of beer and we watched a band who played some great singalong classics. Johnny Cash, Beatles, 'My Old Mans a Dustman' ...that kind of thing. It was great fun.

before we knew it, it was way past a certain someones bed time. Lucky that she bought her blanky with her, just in case.

Nao took these lovely pictures of our van as we got ready for bed...

lots of VWs all tucked up for the night.

the next day we went for lunch at a pub and then went home. The End.
