an anniversary and other stories

On Wednesday 14th August, it was our third wedding anniversary. So much has happened since we got  wedded. We grew our business, we saved and saved, then we bought three cars (??!!) then we moved rental flat and we had a baby. Somehow, our anniversary now feels like a day for all of us to celebrate (including our cat Plimsoll) not just Nao and I.
We decided to have a little break on the Isle of Wight, to see the carnival and visit VDub Island, which is a little festival for, you guessed it, ...VWs!
Anyways, the Ventnor carnival went a bit like this...

our littley wore her 'Pehrosaurus' hat. Which she didn't look very happy about!

dancing to 'La Bamba', I wish I could have joined in on this one!

the bonkers band...

...randomly having a break in the middle of the road.

after the carnival, there was some fireworks, which for a small town like Ventnor, are actually pretty good usually. We let the littl'un stay up to watch them on my mum's balcony.
And, after a few false starts, there was a lot of...

oooOOOOhs....and...

....aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhs

The last night we decided to stay and camp at the VDub Island. It was a very nice chilled out place, with a few nutty enthusiast and a lot of people just enjoying the camping aspect.

quite a few of these lovelies dotted around...

we saw some cute critters...

and had a dinner on the top deck of this gorgeous vintage bus.

it was the best EVER jacket potato with beans and cheese and a cuppa tea.

the back seat...

after stuffing ourselves, we rummaged through our pockets for a few coins left to afford us a nice half of beer and we watched a band who played some great singalong classics. Johnny Cash, Beatles, 'My Old Mans a Dustman' ...that kind of thing. It was great fun.

before we knew it, it was way past a certain someones bed time. Lucky that she bought her blanky with her, just in case.

Nao took these lovely pictures of our van as we got ready for bed...

lots of VWs all tucked up for the night.

the next day we went for lunch at a pub and then went home. The End.

So sweet. The three of your faces on the anniversary heart made me laugh!

I was smiling through the whole post then I screamed twice; "THE OWL! (at the owl picture, of course) and 'OHH SWEET' ( at Pehr's picture with the paper cup). You know something? Your blog is like a vacation for me. I have a very small life, yes, but your blog and your way to look at life is really wonderful. And I actually think is very close to my own look at life, but I don't have a pretty baby, a husband or a van. So I must come to you blog. :). Bye!

oh thank you for saying that! We have many ups and downs like everyone, but we always make the most of those little things like camping and having a nice lunch somewhere. After all, life is made up mostly of little things isnt it? Best wishes to you, and Im sure your life is anything but small ; ) x

hmm puzzling?...not sure what magic you mean, but I guess if there is magic to be had then you have to go and find it. xx

Looks like lots of fun. I love camping especially with children, you jut have to go with the flow and forget about bedtimes and they love it.

I agree with bobbi in the way your adventures are like a holiday for me, too. You and Nao do have the knack, and make the effort, to make the most of your life and that sets a lovely example for us all.

So grateful, as always, that you share some of it with us!

thank you, thank you, thank you!! There is indeed magic happening in the British festivals...the ho-hum is banished away...and replaced with love and jolly goodness...and it is infectious among all the participants and even to those of us on the receiving end of your blog!!! so thank you, thank you, thank you!!

You're right, my life is anything like small...it just feels like it is. I bet you know how it feels like when you just launceh your business and you can't do much else but work! Hopefully it will pay off, so I'll buy a van and I'll go camping! ;)

I love reading your blog, I find it very inspiring although trips out with my children never seem as relaxed as your's with Pehr! Where is her beautiful star jumper from? It's lovely to see a baby girl that is not dressed head to toe in pink.
