this weekend

.
here are some pictures of our very domestic weekend. cleaning our flat, and discovering more and more rust hiding in our van!

but we still love it, though it may need some surgery before we can start fitting the new interior. we have been busy treating and priming some rust spots on the floor, but its really only the tip of the iceberg...

we have already bought the fabric to cover these cushions, and ordered some carpet for the floor, and fabric for the interior panels, all very exciting!!

so now our flat is tidy-ish, and Nao and I have shamefully taken to watching Xfactor on telly whilst having a bed picnic. Really not sure what this means, I hope we are not turning into old fogies already, we've only been married a year, another 60 to go!

  1. The green goddess is looking amazing so far... can't wait to see what you do with her :) Would love a VW camper one day... must learn to drive first, mind you.

...we have shamefully taken to watching X-factor, too. Ryan keeps taking the piss out of me, because I might just be a tv producers *dream*... I find myself sobbing when someone tells their sad story or gives an amazing performance... I honestly didn't used to be like this. Old age is weakening me!

Saddo-dom ... I will have to sign myself up ;))

  2. Rust can be such a bummer in older cars, I hope you can get it treated! It would be so exciting to choose a fabric for the interior and see the whole thing come to life - I can't wait to see how it'll look like at the end! x

  5. Let's say no to X Factor shame! I'm going to come out of the closet and say I bloody love it. Though I found last weeks to be far better than this weeks.
I like your print of the bird with the enormous beak, very sweet.

  6. Oh my goodness, I love your van! My best friend had one of these, and we once spent months travelling through Canada and the US, camping all the way. Can't wait to see the interior. Thank you for that trip down memory lane..

  11. I am so very envious of your Bully (that's what they were called in Germany back then). And unfortunately the rust is typical for them. You should start patching it up. I remember, we used some fibre glas and epoxy stuff for it.
I hope, you will have lots of fun with you cute green Bully. (The English term for 'some school yard thug' entered my vocabulary only much later, so I will always associate it with a wonderful VW bus)

With your van's lovely green colouring and the 'tip of the iceberg' comment, you have to call her something lettuce based. Letticia? Lettie? Good luck with the rust (which is sadly ironic..)

  14. Oh yes, we had one of these, a 'P' reg. We had a few wonderful 8 month long trips around Europe in her, after hubbie had welded a whole new bottom half on her. Worth every single minute of the months he spent discovering her 'blemishes' and putting them right. All the time that we spent renovating her we never once entertained the idea of having any other kind of van though. Fantastic memories of fantastic adventures. You will love every second you spend in yours I'm sure.

  15. They really are the best vans...we had a Volkswagon Euro Van until we sold it a couple years ago...Oh how I miss that van, I seriously wish we had held onto it, just to have it. It had many, many miles on it and we have so many memories with that van. Enjoy yours, it's such a beauty.
