its that time of year again! we bought our tree today, we were meant to get a teeny one but instead we ended up with a medium-ish sized one. We just about squeezed it into our flat, it had to loose a few branches just so that we can get into the room!
This year we thought we'd go for bright colours and use these baubles. My mum collected all these vintage ones and gave me them for xmas last year {there are about 3 more boxes!}...they remind me of Willy Wonker especially the stripy ones!
To go with them, I made some paper bunting on my sewing machine out in the shed...it was so warm and cosy in there with the heater on, I didn't want to come indoors.
this old cracker box has been in our family for generations...I love it!
and i also love these hand painted weird and wonderful designs, i think they might be late 50s or early 60s.
Nao and his precision work on wiring-up the baubles...
its a bit minimalist and modernist, but I like a bit of change compared to our workshop decorations.
Yep, feelin very christmassy now, been singning "Chwistmas twee O Chwistmas twee" all day, much to the annoyance of Nao and Plimsoll I'm sure.

Love all of the vintage ornaments! My mom has collected vintage ornaments for YEARS...sharing her passion, I now have a fairly healthy collection myself :)
ReplyDeleteDo you know, I think bunting might just be my favourite thing ever (despite my last post about my new aran cardigan!) Such a shame my boyfriend is of a slightly different opinion...hmmm. Your tree looks gorgeous, and I would quite like to transport your cosy shed to my house please :) Merry Christmas xxx
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! I adore your vintage baubles. We have some like that at home that my grandmother passed down to my mum and our family. They're so pretty xx
ReplyDeleteYour vintage baubles look great....what a beautiful present from your mum:)
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I am waiting for shelves to be built before I can put our tree up in front of them. Maybe I should start some bunting while I am waiting. Green with envy over your baubles. I wonder if Plimsol is like our cat and will slowly start pulling down every decoration in sight?
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! You have a great bauble collection. This post makes me quite impatient to put up my own tree. :)
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThe box and the baubles really remind me of my childhood and helping my gran to dress their tree! Beautiful pics.... i'm starting to feel festive now!x
ReplyDeleteI love this post! First of all the bunting is simply genius! Ou, I think I might have to try something similar. Plus the vintage baubles are divine, when I saw the pictures of them all in their box it reminded me of chocolates. Definitely feeling the Willy Wonker vibe! xx
ReplyDeleteeeeeeeeekkkkk I'm so excited about getting a Christmas tree! loving the bunting on yours and those baubles are amazing!
ReplyDeleteding dong merrily on high - la la la la la la la!
I simply adore you little shed...it's even prettier with it's roof dusted with snow!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is gorgeous, the baubles beautiful and the bunting quite perfect!
Merry Christmas!

Oh those decorations are the best I've seen! And they're packed so neatly in that box!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right about the date of those baubles, I was a child in the early 60's and I remember we had some that were practically identical.
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks stunning!
Lynne
oh my, that is the most amazing collection of baubles. wow.
ReplyDeleteOh, your tree is so magical! I love the bunting on it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tree hunni!
ReplyDeleteI love vintage baubles too, we have a few from my Nanna. They did such pretty colours back then, shame so many were easily broken.
The bunting is fab, it makes me want some on our tree.
I downloaded the Christmas carols that the BBC just brought out on iTunes. And they are really nice ones. So that's put me in a festive mood.
Kat xx
